Another Thursday rolls around and I don’t about the rest of the world, but summer seems to be truly slipping away in England. Here’s a summery(ish) writing prompt so we can all pretend the weather’s lying!
Name of the game: Snap Shot.
The rules: Stare at the picture. What does it make you think of? What story is it telling? Okay–thought of something? Good. Now set a timer to 10 minutes and start writing that story. Ready, set, go!
This prompt’s image picked me–I was looking for one for another writing prompt and this one jumped out at me. I love how her nails are painted and that hat–I LOVE that hat. Hope you find this photo as inspirational as I did! (If you want to use it, go ahead–the photo is creative commons from Pixabay!)
Usually, I post what I wrote to share the craziness I came up with (because comparing everyone’s different ideas is the best bit!). However, my piece asked to be developed some more and I’m considering submitting it to a contest. Unfortunately, that means I can’t post it here.
Strangely enough, my friend found the same thing–she wanted to keep her piece and develop it into a short story.
My sister also wrote for this prompt, had the opposite reaction and didn’t like what she’d written!
I find it fascinating that one picture could produce these responses from us. So what’s your experience? Try the writing prompt and tell me in the comments! Or even comment what you’ve written if you feel like sharing–I love to read other’s people’s takes on writing prompts.
